Johanna Andrea Echavarría Grajales, Encarnación Sancho

Johanna Andrea Echavarría Grajales is from Medellín, Colombia, and is a student of literature at Universidad de Antioquia. She participated in some plays with Teatro Oficina Central de los Sueños, such as, Amérika de Kafka, Cabaret Baudelaire, and Tríptico Van Gogh: She has also participated in some parades of the scenic arts that are celebrated in her hometown every year. She feels fortunate to have her first performance in Milagro with the play La Segua.

 

David Cabassa, Camilo de Aguilar

David Cabassa, ActorDavid Cabassa fell in love with little rivers, moss-covered paths, and towering snow-capped mountains as soon as he arrived in Oregon. Born, raised, and educated in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, he is thrilled to be working on his first Spanish language production with Milagro. He most recently performed in INGENIO 2018’s reading of Tara by Brian Otaño (Milagro) and Living Out (Mask & Mirror).

 

Patricia Alvitez, Manuela/Petronila

Patricia Alvitez studied Ballet at La Escuela Nacional de Ballet en el Peru and theatre at la Asociacion de Artistas Aficionados. She is a former Company member of The Peninsula Ballet Theatre in San Francisco. Patricia started dancing Ballroom in 2008 and has competed in Portland, Seattle and Los Angeles. Currently she is a dance student at Espacio Flamenco. Local credits include Grand Hotel and Young Frankenstein at Lakewood Theatre, 5 Day of the Dead productions and Watsonville here at Milagro. She thanks Roy for this opportunity.

 

Laura Di Mare, Ensemble

Laura Di MareLaura DiMare has a Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts from the University of Costa Rica. She started her professional career with Punto Cero, with whom she won the national award “Best Theater Group”. Along with two colleagues, she formed a theater group, which presented original material in order to address local social issues. Upon moving to Portland, she is thrilled to have joined the Milagro family and have a role in the United States debut of this timeless Costa Rican play.

 

Enrique Andrade, Jose Manuel Sancho/Don Félix

Enrique E. Andrade, originally from Mexico City, is a graduate of the University of Oregon with majors in Spanish Literature and Philosophy and a minor in Political Science. Enrique became a Master Level Court Certified interpreter in July 2001 and began as a Staff Interpreter II with the OJD in December 2001. When Enrique is not interpreting for the OJD he spends his time as a local actor on stage and screen and as Voice Over talent. Most notably Enrique is the Spanish voice of the MAX.

 

Carlos Adrián Manzano, Ensemble

Carlos Manzano is thrilled to come back and perform at his “home” Milagro! He was last seen in: The musical Sister Act as Ernie (Lakewood Theater), Astucias por Heredar un sobrino a un tio as Crispin (Milagro), The Caucasian Chalk Circle as Arsen Kazbeki/others (Shaking the Tree Theater) and Tomas & The Library Lady as Florencio/Papa Grande (Oregon Children’s Theater). He would like to thank each person that supports the Latinx community in Portland. For Alexander and Katya.

 

Marian Mendez, Ensemble

Marian Mendez’s love for acting led her to leave architecture school in her home country (El Salvador) and move to the United States. She started acting in short films in Los Angeles before moving to Portland in 2015, where she has developed her passion for the stage in several productions including Contigo Pan y Cebolla, Lydia, Astucias por Heredar (Milagro), and Luna Gale (CoHo). She dedicates her work to her beloved husband Jason whose love and support inspire her creative journey.

Roy Antonio Arauz, DirectorRoy Antonio Arauz is a Costa Rican-American director, choreographer, and Milagro’s Producing Creative Director since 2016. He founded and was artistic director of Arouet in Seattle from 2011–2015. Select directing credits: Anna in the Tropics (Latino Theatre Projects), The Gene Pool, The Temperamentals, The Hen Night Epiphany (Arouet); La Mariposa (Book-It, touring); My Mañana Comes (Associate Director, ArtsWest); Annie, The Music Man (Driftwood Players); The Humans (Assistant, Artists Rep); Éxodo (Co-director, Milagro). Emily Wilken, Scenic Designer

Emily Wilken, Scenic DesignEmily was the PAMTA “2017-2018 Outstanding Set Design ” award recipient for her design of Trails with BRTC and 2018 Drammy recipient for her Properties Design of Men on Boats with Third Rail Repertory Theatre. Additionally she’s worked with Action/Adventure Theatre, Artists Rep, Beirut Wedding World Theatre Project, CoHo Productions, Corrib Theatre, Enlightened Theatrics, Lincoln HS, PAE, Portland Playhouse, and Theatre Vertigo. Emily is also Oregon Children’s Theatre Scenic Charge Artist and Craftsperson.

 

Carrie Anne Huneycutt, Costume Designer

Carrie Anne HuneycuttCarrie Anne is an award winning costume designer and performer in Portland, OR. She received her BFA: Acting in Los Angeles, minoring in Stage Combat and Dance. Favorite stage credits include The Laramie Project and Balm in Gilead (LA), El Muerto Vagabundo and Alebrijes (PDX) Film credits include Andrew Jackson: A History Channel Special Puppetry credits include three national tours with Tears of Joy Theatre, Malika Queen of the Cats, Raven Stories and When Animals Were People. Costume and Makeup design credits in LA include Seussical the Musical and Pippin in Portland; Post5’s Desdemona, Stupid Kids, Richard III, ETP’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Defunkt’s On the Edge, Fox & Beggar’s Angamazad, Milagro’s Exodo & Judge Torres, CC’s Fiddler on the Roof1984, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cabaret which she also Choreographed, Crave’s Crossing and PAE’s Romeo & Juliet. Her work on Desdemona earned her Broadway World’s “Best Costume Design in Portland” award. This is her third show designing for Milagro. She is thrilled to be a part of this community.

 

John Epperson, Sound Designer

John Epperson is an ex-pat Seattlite, where he designed sound for shows at Arouet, ArtsWest, Driftwood Players, Latino Theatre Projects, Play Factory, Playwrights Theatre, Redwood Theatre, and Theatre 9/12. His music appears on dozens of albums and compilations as well as in television, film, and video games. He is excited to be back at Milagro.

 

Trevor Sargent, Lighting Designer

Trevor Sargent, Lighting DesignTrevor Sargent has collaborated most recently on SALT, Macbeth and The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Shaking The Tree Theatre) CRANE (The Holding Project), An Interlude in Birdsong (Rutabaga Story Co.) Quietly (Corrib Theatre) The Arsonists and Love & Information (Lewis & Clark College). He has also enjoyed serving in lead technical roles for Third Rail Repertory Theatre (Revolt, She Said, Revolt Again!; Men On Boats), and Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble (Uncle Vanya; Deception Unit; Procedures for Saying No). trevorsargent.me

 

Sarah Andrews, Assistant Director/Properties Master

Sarah holds a BFA in Acting from Central Washington University. Directing credits include Heart Play (Beady Little Eyes), Crossing, Thom Pain (based on nothing) (Crave Theatre), Corre Corre (Teatro Milagro), and the world premiere of From the Ruby Lounge (Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven). She wrote, produced, and directed two puppetry productions: an original adaptation of Life is a Dream, and Pearl and the Five-Headed Dragon. Sarah is a theatre artist who puts her soul into her work and looks forward to exploring the creative possibilities the future has in store.

 

Erin MacGillivray, Stage Manager

Erin MacGillivray is a recent graduate from Whitman College with a B. A. in Theatre and Classical Studies. In addition to stage management, she loves costume designing and directing. In the past year, she has costume designed and stage managed for 4.48 Psychosis (Red Balloon Collective), worked as an ASM on Judy Moody (Oregon Children’s Theatre), as stage manager with Original Practice Shakespeare Festival, and as an assistant director on Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again (Third Rail).

 

Catherine Miller, Board Operator

‘Cat’ is a recent graduate of Portland State University (BA, Theater Arts) and a freelance theater artist in Portland, having worn a variety different hats around town including stage hand, board operator, electrician, dresser, assistant stage manager, house manager, director, and actor. They are excited to be a part their second season with Milagro.

 

Cody Decker, Supertitles Operator

Cody Decker is a student lighting designer and stage manager who recently participated in Map of Virtue (Theatre Vertigo), Midsummer Night’s Dream (Portland Community College) and A Christmas Carol (Stumptown Stages).  Cody is a fan of Grimm’s fairy tales and the legends of King Author and Robin Hood. This is their first show with Milagro Theatre, and is excited to be a part of it.
